Chapter Text

"Ah!" Jennette cried out and jumped out of her seat. "I'm sorry! Please excuse me!"

She quickly dashed past the man who just stood there, seemingly shocked at her reaction after realising that she had revealed her jewelled blue eyes in front of him.

'Aaaahhh!' Jennette cried internally. How was she ever going to face the nice mister after this?!

The man watched as she ran out of the lounging area, disappearing from his view as soon as she turned around a corner.

'... Well, how timely,' Anastacius thought while shrugging his shoulders. If Jennette saw him acting nonchalant as if he had not just seen something that he should not have seen, then surely that would arouse some suspicion from her.

"I have to admit. I look amazing in red," Anastacius spoke up, holding his chin between his thumb and bent forefinger while smirking. "What do you think, Miss Myra?"

"Hm?" Myra looked up and saw Anastacius patiently waiting for her to answer his question. Then, she smiled. "Well, I think you are handsome wearing anything actually. But I have to say... red definitely suits you... The same goes for darker colours like purple and black."

Seemingly satisfied with her answer, Anastacius chuckled to himself. This made the others who mildly disliked him sigh out of annoyance.

"Of course, you would want her to praise you all the time," Roger mumbled while staring at Anastacius judgementally. "You and your praise kink."

"What is the matter, Roger? Jealous?" Anastacius asked the duke while batting his beautiful jewelled blue eyes. He really knew how to rile Roger up because the older man was staring coldly at him.

  "Of you? Nonsense."

"Your dads, despite being the oldest people in this room, definitely don't act like it," Lucas said to Ijekiel and Jennette before snickering. "It's kinda hilarious, actually."

"Says the person who's supposedly around 200 years old," Ijekiel said.

"You're dragging me into this now, Kiel?" Lucas replied while furrowing his eyebrows. "In my defence, I am currently in my teenage body so I am obliged to consider myself a teenager."

Ijekiel dropped his shoulders. "Lucas, I'd prefer it if you don't shorten my name to 'Kiel'," he told him. "... I feel uncomfortable hearing you call me that."

"Is it because you only want Athy calling you that?" Jennette interjected, knowing that Ijekiel had liked the princess for years.

  ...

"Um..." Ijekiel's cheeks had turned a faint shade of red.

"Don't get your hopes up. She'll just make up a stupid nickname for you like... little white doggy." Lucas cursed himself for making up a terrible nickname for Ijekiel on the spot. 'Well, he is the son of Mister White. So it makes sense... in a way?'

"Lucas, sometimes I wonder what goes on in your brain," Ijekiel said, not even caring about the fact that the magician made up a horrible nickname for him that was worth teasing for. He just paid his attention back to the screen.

Athanasia had come to the Alpheus manor to visit Jennette late at night. Instead of sitting on the sofa where she'd always wait for her arrival during her nightly visits, the brunette was already in bed, hiding underneath her thick blanket.

The princess tilted her head in confusion. Was there something wrong with Jennette? She sat on the side of the bed and the mattress sank a bit. "Jennette, are you sick?" she asked. "You seem pale."

"She's not sick," Lucas said in an as-a-matter-of-fact voice. "But she is hiding something from you, princess. And she is doing a bad job at it."

Jennette just dropped her shoulders in defeat and frowned. "L-Lucas, please don't tease me..."

"N-No, it's nothing," Jennette stammered, her voice muffled by the blanket that was covering her entire body.

Athanasia looked at her with concern. "Is there something bothering you? You can talk to me about it."

Jennette froze. A few seconds later, she pulled down the blanket off her head and looked at Athanasia. If she told her the truth, then maybe this uneasy feeling she felt would be washed away.

'The truth is I'm your sister and I also have jewelled eyes, which is being kept s secret but I accidentally got caught red-handed by a stranger.'

Nope! Not only would that make her more anxious over how ridiculous it sounded, but how would Athanasia react if she found out that she was her sister?!

"You know, the truth does sound a bit farfetched if you say it out loud," Anastacius said before humming. "It's not every day that you get to find out that a young lady is actually a member of the imperial family who has to hide her identity and is living in the duke's manor. It's not surprising if people don't believe it at first."

"... Yes, it does sound ridiculous if you say it like that," Roger muttered.

Jennette sighed. "That was the main reason why I never told Athy that... And I'm glad I didn't," she said while scratching the back of her head. 'It would be embarrassing to just confess to her that I'm her sister when she already knows that we are just cousins... Is that the reason why Athy looked so shocked when I asked what she'd do if I were her real sister?'

"... Jennette seems to be the type to overthink a lot. Don't you think so, Ijekiel?" Lucas asked Ijekiel in a low voice so Jennette wouldn't hear him.

"You just realised that Lucas?" was Ijekiel's only answer with an eyebrow raised.

"N-No. It's okay," was all Jennette said before hiding underneath her blanket again.

This time, Athanasia was getting a bit suspicious. 'What is it? It's worrying me,' she thought. 'Is she going through something?'

She decided to leave Jennette be and left her alone so the girl could get her rest. Not before saying goodbye, of course.

The next day rolled by and it was already afternoon.

'What should I do?' Jennette wondered as she hid behind one of the trees in the manor's lavish garden. From the distance, she secretly spied on the black-haired guest who was taking a casual stroll.

'I was so worried about what happened yesterday, that I wasn't able to have a casual conversation with the princess.'

"Jennette, can I ask you something?" Anastacius asked the girl who tilted her head cutely at him.

"What is it, father?" she replied.

"Are you good at playing hide and seek?"

"No. I never even played the game, unfortunately. I didn't have anyone to play the game with."

"... Ah." Well, this was awkward. Anastacius cleared his throat. "I see. Well, now I know that you might be a bad hider if you're playing the game, at least," he said while smiling weakly at the girl who had her mouth gaping from shock. "I was able to see you spying on me behind that tree the entire time but I just never said it out loud because I know you were trying your hardest here."

Jennette blinked. "... I appreciate your consideration, father," she said. "Thank you for not embarrassing me for being a terrible spy and hider."

"You are very welcome, my dear."

'I thought about it all night but really... the most I can do is ask him to keep it a secret.'

Jennette imagined how the man would react if he noticed her standing here, behind the tree, spying on him.

"Why are you hiding?" He would ask as he approach her. "It's suspicious."

  Hopefully, that won't happen-

  "Excuse me, my lady."

  Lucas snorted. "What perfect timing..."

"I thought I died from a heart attack when I saw father walking towards me," Jennette told them before laughing weakly. 'I... tend to freak out very easily now that I think about it.'

Jennette jumped after hearing the man's voice. She then realised that the man was approaching her. "Yes?!" she cried out. "W-What's the matter?"

The black-haired man looked around the garden to ensure that no one else was spying on them.

"My lady," he proceeded to kneel down on one knee in front of her. "I am asking this cautiously."

"But I saw your eyes yesterday, young lady." His voice was gentle and soft as he talked to the worried girl. "Are you perhaps of the royal bloodline?"

He patiently waited for a response from her.

"... As I thought."

"You are... really bad at hiding your emotions, Jennette," Lucas said with a strained smile. "No wonder why your father caught you red-handed so easily."

"Well, at least she's adorable when she's unable to conceal her feelings," Anastacius stated while patting Jennette on the head. He took a closer look at her face and grinned. "Aww, look at you. You're doing it again. Blushing like this."

"F-Father, please don't mess with me," Jennette mumbled, trying to push her father's hand off her head but her attempts were futile as he continued to give her head pats. 'Is this... father's way of showing affection?'

Claude just blanched at the father and daughter duo. The three adults who sat in the same row looked at him judgementally. Here he was, acting as if he wouldn't do the same thing as his brother. Smothering his daughter with love and affection even though he's horrible at showing it.

"The duke was protecting you for a reason," the man continued.

They could imagine Roger scolding poor Jennette for accidentally revealing her true identity to his... friend.

"I told you to be careful!" the duke would nag at her non-stop for hours.

"... Is that how you see me, Jennette?" Roger asked. Why did he look a bit... hurt? Like a little dog who had just been kicked accidentally by someone?

"N-No, Uncle Roger!" Jennette exclaimed. "I mean, even though you can be overbearing sometimes, I know you are like that because you care for both me and Ijekiel!"

"... Ijekiel, am I... overbearing to you?" This time, he asked his son a question.

Ijekiel just stared at his father in disbelief. However, the silence from him was telling enough for Roger.

'Aah! I just made him feel even worse about himself!' was what Ijekiel and Jennette thought as Roger just let out a sigh of disappointment before paying attention to the screen. They genuinely wanted to apologise to the man... but Anastacius was just cackling at Roger's demise as he got emotionally destroyed by the two teens who he raised since they were kids.

"... Sir Roger? Are you alright?" After telling Anastacius to calm down, Myra asked the duke while patting his shoulders.

Roger just gave her a strained smile. "Do I look like I am alright, Miss Myra?" he replied. "... Forgive me for suddenly acting this way."

"I don't blame you. It's not every day that you get emotionally destroyed by the children you've taken care of."

"I... I ask of you. Please don't tell," Jennette pleaded.

The man simply smiled at her. "Of course," he said without hesitation. "After all, you are keeping a secret from me as well."

That still didn't calm Jennette down for she continued to fidget, her hand that was clenched into a shaky fist covering her mouth.

"Please don't worry," he continued in a softer tone of voice. "This is already our third secret."

Jennette felt as if a burden had been lifted off her shoulders. Someone knew her real identity of her being a princess of the Obelian Empire. And yet this kind gentleman promised to her that he'd keep his promise and not tell a soul about this to anyone?

  'Mister Gentleman is...'

Without realising, tears were already streaming down her cheeks, overwhelmed with emotion.

"Oh, dear she's crying," Diana said, her voice filled with worry. 'Poor girl is being swayed so easily by her own father who's evil for some reason here!'

"You don't have to worry, Lady Diana," Jennette reassured the dancer in a loud voice so she could hear her easily. "I cry very easily whenever someone is treating me kindly so this was a normal occurrence for me."

  ...

  ...

"Jennette, do you realise just how sad that sounds?" Anastacius asked his daughter with caution.

"Thank you... Thank you so much," Jennette thanked the nice gentleman who then stood up to comfort the sobbing girl.

'... really kind, in my opinion.'

"You have poor judgement in people, Jennette," Lucas bluntly stated without hesitation. "Even if he's... a nice Mister Gentleman who promises you that he won't tell anyone about you accidentally showing off your real eye colour, that doesn't mean you should trust him that easily! How many times have I and perhaps other people before I have told you this?"

"... But father has been very nice to me so, because I assume everyone who's nice to me is a good person, of course I'd trust him," Jennette explained her way of thinking to the magician who only looked at her in disbelief. She then cupped Anastacius' cheeks in her hands. "Also, father has a really kind-looking face."

"... Excuse me, kind-looking?" Claude thought he was mishearing things but nope! His niece actually described his brother's ugly face as 'kind-looking'? 'Is this girl's vision distorted somehow?' he thought.

Myra smiled weakly. "Um, Miss Jennette? Even though Sir Anastacius certainly has a good looking face, I wouldn't exactly describe it as kind-looking," she said. "He looks more... sly in a way. Which makes people doubt him more because most of the time he's smirking and people don't know why he's smirking."

"Wait, did you just call me handsome?" Anastacius asked her, his face still being cupped by his daughter.

"Sir Anastacius, I'm not the kind to be in denial about the truth," Myra responded before glancing over at Roger. "Unlike a certain silver-haired gentleman."

Unbeknownst to them, someone had actually been hiding behind one of the trees further away from them.

Rather, a certain runaway princess was spying on them.

That caught both Anastacius and Jennette off-guard.

"She has been spying on us this whole time?" Anastacius had his mouth gaping. How did he not notice her? 'I should have paid more attention to my surroundings,' he thought.

"I guess she was worried about you, Jennette," Ijekiel said. "And that's why she's been secretly looking out for you."

"That sounds like something she'd do," Lucas muttered. "I mean, she did sneak back into her dad's bedroom late at night even though he had tried to kill her. Not to mention that he publicly humiliated her in front of nobles on his birthday."

"You really need to apologise to our daughter for doing those things to her, by the way," Diana told Claude as she folded her arms across her chest. "And while you are it, maybe you should also apologise to her for neglecting her during the first five years of her life. And also that drowning incident?"

"You don't have to list every bad thing I've ever done down, Diana," Claude said while ignoring the cold glance his lover gave him. He never did like it when she glared at him like that. Made him feel terrified every time she did it. Even more so after they got transported into this building to react to their daughter's life.

'Who is that guy?' Athanasia thought, surprised to see the black-haired man they had met in town walking around in the Alpheus estate so freely. 'Why is he at the Alpheus estate?'

'What were they talking about? Was she exposed as a member of the royal family?'

'But he'll keep it a secret?!'

  'HE'S WAAAYYYYY TOO SUSPICIOUS!'

The man smiled at the young brunette who finally stopped crying.

Anastacius glanced over at Myra who had a smile of adoration on her face. He leaned towards her and waved a hand in front of her face. "You do know the real deal is sitting right beside you, right? I can always smile like that to you."

"Eh? But isn't that just one of the fake polite smiles you often make when you because you have ulterior motives behind your kindness?" Myra asked before chuckling. "In all honesty Sir Anastacius, I think you look more handsome when you smile genuinely at your daughter like what you are doing now."

"Is that so? Then how would you react if I smile back at you, my dear, hm? Would you get flustered like how you'd sometimes do?"

'I feel like we're not meant to see this,' Jennette thought while looking away from the two adults, flustered over how they were openly flirting with each other. 'I think most of us are thinking the same thing. Uncle Roger looks a bit fed up right now.'

Noticing Jennette's discomfort, Lucas covered her eyes with his hand and told her to cover her ears. "I'll tell you when they stop flirting. Save your pure virgin ears for when you're an adult and you understand love better."

Ijekiel just facepalmed himself. 'Why is Lucas kind of acting like a good big brother now?"

Afterwards, Athanasia had disappeared from the garden and teleported herself to Jennette's bedroom about half an hour later. Jennette, ecstatic over her friend's visit, had already prepared some tea and biscuits for them to snack on and showed the princess to her seat.

  "... Jennette?"

As expected, Jennette's mood was better than yesterday for she was beaming as brightly as the sun, smiling warmly at the princess. "Yes?" she replied.

"Oh, you're so cute," Anastacius cooed. "... Jennette, are you listening to me?"

Jennette's ears and eyes were still covered. "... Is the flirting over yet?"

Lucas finally put his hand down and gave her a thumbs up. Then, she finally uncovered her ears with a sigh of relief.

Athanasia felt a bit nervous to bring up the stranger they met in town days ago. "The truth is, today I saw the gentleman we met at the market and, um... Is he a guest?"

"Ah, yes!" Jennette answered. "It's such a coincidence, right? He seems to have been staying here since a few days ago."

  'What? He's staying here?!'

"I find it funny that the princess is the one who's actually suspicious about this whole thing while you're just sitting over completely clueless about everything," Lucas said. Then, he frowned. "I swear, someday your nativity and gullible nature will cause a lot of suffering to you in the long run if someone can take advantage of you so easily."

"Like what Uncle Roger and father are doing to me by deceiving me from the truth?" Jennette asked, causing Roger and Anastacius to freeze as soon as their names were brought up. "Yeah, I am trying to fix that but you can't really fix something that has been instilled in you at a very young age in a few days, right?"

"H-How interesting," Athanasia tried to remain calm. "Does he have anything to do with the Alpheus family?"

That was a question Jennette couldn't answer confidently. "Hm, I don't really know," she confessed. "Mister doesn't really tell me about these kinds of things so... I never asked before either."

'Mister White...' Athanasia forced herself to smile.

After noticing Athanasia's subtle reaction, Jennette continued. "Um... He saw us together on our outing but he promised me he would keep it a secret." She reached out and grabbed Athanasia's hands, holding them firmly. "So you don't need to worry about anything, princess!"

"You never told Uncle Roger about my outing with the princess, father?" Jennette couldn't help but ask.

Anastacius smiled at Jennette and shook his head. "Of course not. We made a pinkie promise, remember. And, if you know me, I never break my pinkie promises. Especially pinkie promises I make with you, Jennette."

"Hearing him being proud over childish things like pinkie promises makes me sick," Claude mumbled under his breath. Why was he in a bad mood so early in the morning?

"I think His Majesty had woken up on the wrong side of the bed this morning," Felix whispered to no one in particular. "Or maybe he's in a bad mood because he ate his breakfast all alone earlier until Sir Roger and I accompanied him."

  "I can hear you, Felix."

  "Ah, forgive me, Sire."

Athanasia just smiled through the pain. Jennette fully trusted this suspicious man and there was no way for her to change her mind.

'Oh no, Jennette isn't suspicious in the slightest. I need to investigate myself.'

  ...

  'Or so I thought, but...'

A couple of days had passed since then.

Athanasia was fortunate enough to find herself a room to rent at an inn that wasn't so busy during the daytime. Sitting comfortably on the side of the rented room's wooden bed, she read a thick book entitled 'History of Obelia'. There were also several other books on the bed, all of them already been read by her.

'As expected, even if I search the minor branches of the royal family, there is no one worthy of suspicion.'

"That is because Claude gave an order to erase all history of me after he became emperor since I was a terrible emperor, apparently," Anastacius explained briefly with a simple smile, not even caring that Claude pretty much erased his entire existence in every public record.

"Apparently?" Roger furrowed an eyebrow. "You were a terrible emperor."

"Don't you feel sad, father?" Jennette asked. "After all, the future generation of Obelia won't even know about you unless they are told the story of how your brother overthrew you."

"Eh, it's alright. It happened years ago, after all," Anastacius answered with a wave of a hand. "Besides... it's beneficial for me that my identity is forgotten by the citizens since I can freely travel around the empire with a simple disguise."

'And most of the information about royals before daddy have been erased too...'

Athanasia sighed in disappointment and closed the book. There was not much information she could gather from this book alone regarding the imperial family's history.

'Is it a coincidence that he looks like daddy?'

"Nope it is not a coincidence that he looks like your papa," Lucas said even though the girl on the screen couldn't respond to him. "Because they're brothers. Of course they would resemble each other a lot."

'This isn't going very smoothly?' She barely began her research and she was already stuck. 'I've been steadily looking through every book, but I'm not making much progress.'

  How to Control Mana.

The Aspect of Overwhelming Mana, the Effects of Exploding Mana.

  The Secrets of Memory.

  How to Cure Amnesia.

  Magic to Strengthen Memory.

These were the titles of the books on her bed that she had been reading.

"I want to help daddy regain his memories..." Athanasia cast her gaze down the wooden floor and frowned. Her legs were crisscrossed while she sat on the bed, a small habit she had been doing for a long time.

Claude frowned. 'She's trying her best to cure my amnesia despite not knowing where to start? And what's my future self doing? Wallowing in grief or anger because she still hasn't returned to the palace?'

He was touched that Athanasia was doing her best for his sake. She could have just left him completely and yet despite everything his future self had done to her, she still wanted to help?

'If it were Lucas, would he be able to fix everything?'

Lucas just smiled. "Aww, she thinks I'm so powerful I can fix all her problems with a snap of a finger? Adorable." Then, his smile was replaced with a sour frown. "Unfortunately it's not that easy."

  "How come?" Ijekiel asked.

"Well, I'd love to answer that question but that would ruin the surprise factor that will come in a future chapter," Lucas replied. He stretched his body in his seat and leaned back. "Let's just say that her dad's memory lost ordeal is a lot more... complicated than what people are thinking. I tried to give him his memories back but I failed in doing so."

  ...

  ...

  'Lucas? Can you hear me?'

"What is she doing?" Claude asked, annoyed from hearing Lucas' name coming out of his daughter's mouth.

Somewhere in the universe, Lucas stopped in his tracks and turned around. His long and silky black hair swayed with each movement he made.

"Huh. So I did hear her," Lucas said with a surprised look on his face. "I thought I was getting old and mishearing things."

"Is she..." There was a blank expression on Ijekiel's face. "Don't tell me she's actually sending a telepathic message to you."

'I am trying to reach you telepathically.'

  Ijekiel blinked. "... Ah."

Lucas snickered. "Right on the dot as always, Ijekiel."

"So telepathy is real..." For some reason, Ijekiel didn't really like that the princess could send a telepathic message to Lucas so easily like that. Was this jealousy? "But that doesn't really explain why she can do it to you when you are most likely far away from Obelia."

Lucas appeared to be deep in thought. Then, he smirked at the young lord. "Because we are soulmates, obviously."

Thank goodness Felix was there or else Claude would have absolutely obliterated the wizard without any hesitation. He had to wrap his arms around the emperor to force him back down to his seat until Claude finally calmed down.

However, he was still glaring daggers at Lucas who just ignored him. Or at least he tried to ignore him because he was swallowing his saliva out of nervousness.

'Am I just imagining things?' Lucas wondered while scratching the back of his head.

Back in Obelia, Athanasia just felt embarrassed for even trying something that she didn't know would work. 'As if it'd work.'

'Hm...' Perhaps... she was overthinking about everything. Maybe the man they met at the marketplace staying at the Alpheus manor was pure coincidence? 'Am I just going overboard with my suspicions?'

"Nope, she has every right to be suspicious," Claude stated bluntly. 'Whenever something bad is happening, always doubt Anastacius because he's often the one to cause the trouble."

Anastacius turned his head around and glared at his younger brother. "Excuse me Claude but when have I ever been the one to cause trouble first? I don't know about you but I was a good child!"

"Yeah. A good child until you changed all of a sudden one day." Claude clicked his tongue in annoyance. "After acting a completely different person, instead of taking the blame for the mistakes you made as you always did, you'd just put all the blame on me. And your mother had a wonderful time beating a small defenceless child as punishment, for your information."

Anastacius froze. There wasn't much change in Claude's voice, but he could hear just how hurt he was as he brought up the past.

"Before you decide to apologise, just drop it. I don't care about the past anymore."

  ...

"Family drama, am I right?" Lucas spoke up after moments of silence to brighten up the mood.

The lit-up fire in the fireplace in Athanasia's room provided warmth for Athanasia. Perhaps it was best for her to take a short break from her research.

There was a smooth transition from the fireplace made from bricks to the fireplace in the Alpheus manor's lounging area.

"Please refrain from getting too close to Jennette," Roger said in a stern voice. He stood in front of Anastacius who sat on the sofa, combing his fingers through his black hair.

Anastacius whistled, a confident smirk plastered on his handsome face. "Well, look at this handsome devil," he complimented himself. This caused most of the people in the room to groan out of annoyance. "Miss Myra, what do you think-"

He cut himself off after realising that Myra had a faint blush on her cheeks. Her eyes were darting everywhere but he realised that they'd always land on his... chest area where his scar was in view on the screen.

"Miss Myra, is there something the matter?" he asked.

"Oh boy, here we go again. Cover your ears, Jennette," Lucas told Jennette who already had her ears covered before he even had to say it.

"Hm? Oh, it's nothing," Myra just smiled at Anastacius. "It's just that... you're incredibly handsome and it just so happens that the outfit you're wearing on-screen? Yeah, it's one of my favourite outfits to see you wear."

"Hm, is that so?" Anastacius chuckled deeply. Then, he leaned towards her so their faces were inches apart. "Then maybe I should wear the exact same outfit tomorrow. Just to tease you a bit."

"Please don't. I don't think my heart can take it." Myra smiled, hiding the fact that she was freaking out.

"I hate it here...," Roger muttered under his breath. He wished he could sit further away from the pair but his seat was just too comfortable.

"... Okay, you can put your hands down now," Lucas said while making a motion to Jennette to do as he said.

"It's not my fault Jennette caught me," Anastacius said. He rested his head on his hand and sighed. "If we look into the source, isn't it because you failed to properly keep Jennette in line?"

'Urgh.' Roger grimaced. Anastacius was definitely a difficult man to work with.

"I'm not a fan of this situation either," Anastacius continued. "But I can't just keep actively avoiding her."

"... You know, this setting they're in... feels familiar somehow," Lucas said. "I wonder when we've seen these men talking to each other in private like this?"

"You're not talking about... the April Fools Special, right?" Ijekiel had to force himself to say those three words, still traumatised by what he and the others had seen. "Hopefully, no-"

"Yep! That's what I was thinking!" Lucas snapped his fingers and grinned. "Man... you have to admit though seeing your dad and Jennette's dad getting together was hilarious."

"Oh yeah!" Jennette finally remembered. "Pfft! I still remember what happened in that special... 'Can I get a demonstration then, please?'" she mimicked the way her father said that sentence to Roger in the April Fools Special.

Anastacius, though amused that Jennette tried to mimic his voice and was bad at doing so, he physically recoiled from the memories of that... chapter. "Ugh, don't bring that up. I beg of you," he said. "I'd rather be homeless than getting together with... this old man."

"I'm an old man?" Roger glared at him. "Pardon me but you are around the same age as me and you dare call me the old one?"

"Wait, isn't that the special chapter that also briefly mentioned Sir Felix and Claude... you know," Diana's words trailed off before giggling.

"Don't drag us into this, Diana," Claude said to her while Felix's face was a bright shade of red.

"You know, because alternate universes exist, there could be a timeline where Sir Roger and Sir Anastacius actually got together!" Myra decided to join in on this chaotic conversation. "I think that's just lovely because Miss Jennette ended up having two fathers in that universe!"

"Miss Myra! You're making things worse!" Anastacius cried out, shocked that she of all people would offer that idea.

Lately, Jennette had been secretly snooping around the places Anastacius was at in the manor. Obviously, he noticed her but he didn't say anything about it.

"If Jennette ever starts to become suspicious..."

"Are you doubting me?" Anastacius cut him off while looking at the duke with disinterest. "I'm working really hard to clean up all the shit you've shat. It's a bother for me, too."

"Language, father!" Jennette scolded Anastacius who apologised to her soon after.

Roger was taken aback by Anastacius' sailor mouth. 'How vulgar...'

Anastacius' voice was low and threatening. "I've told you before. Don't force me into intervening," he said to him. "Just keep Jennette's interest on Claude. And she'll naturally lose interest in me."

"... yeah, that part about me losing interest in you didn't happen," Jennette said. She smiled shyly. "Because for some reason, I always felt like I could connect with you easily even before I knew you're my father. And I'm more than happy that you're my real father."

  ...

"Oh, you sweet baby. Come here." If Anastacius could cry, he would but there was no way he was going to tear up in front of everyone else while he was hugging his lovely daughter.

  ...

  Roger sighed.

This wasn't how Roger wanted his plan to go through but with Anastacius entering the picture, he had no choice but to follow what the former emperor told him to do.

"... Alright," he finally responded. 'I guess I'll have to overlook it for now.'

In the end, Anastacius grinned at the duke, happy that he was following his orders.

The screen turned white and the words 'To be continued' appeared.

"That's the end of chapter 61," Myra said while grinning. She spun around the remote control in her hand without dropping it. "That's a good chapter to start the day with. Shall we continue on with chapter 62 immediately?"

Without any disagreements from the others, she pressed the button on the remote and chapter 62 began to play.

Even though I am a massive Myrana shipper, I will never forget about my love for Anaroger... so behold. Anaroger fanart.

I can't believe that Anaroger is almost canon, oh my god...

This fanart was entirely inspired by this drawing made by Spoon herself.

... Okay even though this is just Anaroger... I am so tempted to draw Myra being stuck in the middle of an Anastacius in a bathrobe and Roger wearing his regular clothes in a dishevelled way.
