The study of various teaching/learning methods has developed in different psychological areas and, although psychological studies have been continuously reported, a new teaching/learning method is needed for the 21st century. Today, scientists are
beginning to understand how the young brain develops and the mature brain learns. The results of brain research from the areas of biological psychology, the cognitive sciences and cognitive neuroscience can help us understand how children learn and how memory develops. These findings can be applied to educational theory and practice. The purpose of this study is to recognize the need for a new understanding of learning and learning mechanisms, to extract the teaching/learning principles and
foundations from brain research, and to propose a new music teaching/learning method based on learning science and brain-based learning. Education today is a pre-scientific discipline. Although the science of learning and brain-based education are at an early stage, important implications are already being made. In this paper, application of the paradigm of learning science and brain-based education to music teaching/learning is proposed. Specifically, five basic principles and instructional
